    Show Me the Money | Part 2: Sponsorship Development & Donor Relations


    In this session, a panel of specialists will talk about successful strategies for sponsorship development and donor relations.  Learn tips and tricks for how to pitch a sponsorship proposal and how to foster long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.   

    MODERATOR: CATHY ROBERTSON

    Since 2008 Cathy has been the General Manager of Community Futures Cowichan. In this role she oversees a range of Community Economic Development projects and the Small Business lending program in addition to the day-to-day management of the organization.  She has written proposals and lead Projects in Business Retention and Expansion, Tourism Development, and Downtown Revitalization.



     


    PANELIST: AMY MELMOCK

    Amy joined the CVRD as Manager of Economic Development Cowichan in 2016, after a five-year tenure as General Manager of Atlantic Canada’s Neptune Theatre, where she launched a $3 million endowment campaign and a $5 million capital revitalization program.  Throughout her varied career in economic development, cultural administration and communications she has advised not-for-profit organizations on creating effective donor and sponsorship strategies that are founded on relationship building. 


     

    PANELIST: CHRIS SPICER

    Chris has a wonderful life with wife Alex, 3 sons, 3.5 grandchildren and 2.5 daughters in law. His working career has seen six chapters: Victoria YM-YWCA; BC Games Society; St. Michaels University School (where he started his work in philanthropy in 1992 building their advancement office); Pacific Sport - Canadian Sport Institute Pacific; Independent Philanthropic Consultant, and; his current role as Director of Advancement at Brentwood College School.  Chris currently volunteers with Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence, Castaway Wanderers Rugby Club, Block Watch and Wildcoast Cottages.



    PANELIST: STERLING AUREL

    Sterling is a professional fundraiser with over 20 years of experience working for non-profit organizations.  Sterling currently works for the Chemainus Theatre Festival, and has in the past worked for MJM Youth Resources, Aunt Leah’s Independent Living Society, Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and UBC.  He is excited to be living and working in the Cowichan Valley, and looks forward to sharing his out of the box ideas and creative thinking process with those in attendance at the Symposium.
