Chamber Lunch & Learn:
Duncan Local Immigration Partnership
Building a Welcoming Workforce
Hosted by Cowichan Intercultural Society
Join us for an engaging Lunch & Learn on the role of immigration in Cowichan’s workforce and community. This session will feature two guest speakers who are working to strengthen connections between employers, newcomers, and community organizations.
Alejandra Lara-Espinosa, Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) Coordinator with the Cowichan Intercultural Society, will introduce the new Duncan-based LIP initiative. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the LIP brings together local government, businesses, non-profits, and community groups to identify shared priorities such as housing, employment, healthcare, and inclusion. Alejandra will explain how your organization can get involved and support this community-wide effort.
Darcy Bromley, Outreach Officer with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, will speak about how employers can successfully hire and support temporary foreign workers. Darcy helps businesses understand immigration programs, interpret regulations, and access the talent they need while remaining compliant with federal policy.
Bring your lunch, bring your questions, and join us for a meaningful conversation about building a welcoming and prosperous Cowichan.
