Merridale's first seasonal cider of the year, Hoptimized 2.0, is set to be released on March 12th, and it's just in time for St. Paddy's Day. You'll find it in select pubs on the island and lower mainland, as well as local liquor stores on the island, and of course at our ciderbar here at Merridale. Look for it early, because it won't last long! So, what does this seasonal St. Paddy's cider taste like? Think hoppy fruitiness! Intriguing mixture, isn't it? To achieve a balance, the cellar team dry hopped a blend of Vancouver Island hops - Cascade, Galena, and Fuggle to be specific. The fruitiness, of course, came from the perfect blend of sharp and bitter cider apples - Hoppy, fruity, effervescent, and refreshing. Stop by the ciderhouse for a taste, while the kids explore the orchard. The Irish faeries, the leprechauns, visit Merridale every year around St. Paddy's Day and hide treasure on the property. All children are welcome to join us for a treasure hunt from March 12th to 20th for the chance to win a special shamrock cookie and perhaps to spot a leprechaun! Check in at the ciderhouse for a treasure map!
