Cowichan Valley Hospice and Cowichan District Hospital are poised to welcome families and friends to the 24th annual Tree Lighting. The ceremony at Cowichan District Hospital has become a beloved ritual for many in Cowichan to remember their loved ones in the time leading up to the holidays. ?The Holiday Season can be a difficult time for those who have lost someone. This is an evening for the bereaved to honour the memory of their loved one in a meaningful way, with others who understand how hard it can be.? says Cowichan Valley Hospice Client Services Coordinator, Shelley Kuecks. The evening includes comforting words and beautiful music from the Threshold Singers and Queen Margaret?s School choir. Everyone has an opportunity to turn on a tree light in memory of a loved one. Following the lighting ceremony, Cowichan Valley Hospice volunteers will serve refreshments in the hospital cafeteria. About Cowichan Valley Hospice: Cowichan Valley Hospice provides emotional one-to-one or group support, and caring services to those diagnosed with an advancing illness, their caregivers and families, and anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one. Hospice services are provided throughout the Cowichan region from the Malahat to Ladysmith. Cowichan Valley Hospice staff and volunteers support hundreds of Cowichan families each year. With the generous support of donors, corporate sponsors, United Way of Cowichan and events like Hike for Hospice and Golf for Hospice, Cowichan Valley Hospice offers services free of charge wherever they are needed in our community.
