The Cowichan Valley Garden Club's March meeting features guest speaker Anna Colangeli discussing "Exploring the Role of Genetic Research in the Garden." "There is a continuing explosion of new information in the world of genetics and botany based on new techniques and technologies. Anna will provide an overview of key technical advances in molecular genetics and biotechnology. She will then explore the role of genetic research on garden plants and how this technology impacts our gardens." Dr. Anna Colangeli is a retired Camosun College instructor where she taught in the Departments of Biology and Environmental Technology. There she taught general science courses as well as courses in Environmental Horticulture and Biotechnology. She holds degrees in Microbiology, Genetics and Forest Ecology. Anna is a trained Master Gardener, an avid gardener and has a keen interest in the role of scientific developments in the world of plants.
