No matter what line of business or what type of organization, or whether you are a community volunteer or stakeholder, it’s important to effectively gather feedback from and maintain positive relationships with your community. In this session, Lisa Moilanen and Natasha Horsman from the BC Chapter of IAP2, will talk about an internationally recognized framework to help you design, plan, and deliver community engagement. You’ll also get some tools, tips and tricks to help you get the most value when you lead or participate in engagement initiatives.
This session is part of For the Love of Nonprofits, a one-day professional development and networking symposium. You can register for this session, and other sessions, individually or you can purchase a FULL DAY PASS and save!
About Lisa Moilanen: Lisa Moilanen has worked for well over a decade in engagement and communications for local government, private sector and not-for-profit. She has hands on experience planning, designing and implementing engagement across Western Canada as well as being a strong advocate with clients, colleagues, senior leadership and elected officials for transparent and authentic engagement. As past IAP2 BC President and board member for six years, as well as the co-chair for the 2018 IAP2 North American Conference, Lisa is a huge supporter of bringing together engagement practitioners or those interested, to gain a better understanding of how to do the best engagement possible and to learn from each other’s successes and lessons learned.
About Natasha Horsman: Natasha has worked in local and Provincial governments for over a decade. Much of her work has involved negotiating compromise in the context of major natural resource projects. In her work, she experienced the importance of finding ways to connect over shared values in high-conflict settings. Natasha is passionate about community engagement as a way to form real, human connections that help us navigate challenging situations. Natasha is currently on the board of the BC-Yukon IAP2 Chapter and holds a Masters degree in Public Administration.
