SUMMARY:Show Me the Money | Part 1: Grant Writing & Funding Applications
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, a panel of specialists will discuss successful strategies for grant writing and the completion of funding applications.  Learn how to avoid common application pit-falls and prepare and submit the necessary supporting documentation.  \n\n\n\nMODERATOR:CATHY ROBERSTON\n\n\n\nSince 2008 Cathy has been the General Manager of Community Futures Cowichan. In this role she oversees a range of Community Economic Development projects and the Small Business lending program in addition to the day-to-day management of the organization.  She has written proposals and lead Projects in Business Retention and Expansion\, Tourism Development\, and Downtown Revitalization.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPANELIST: DREW COOPER\n\n\n\nAs the Executive Director for the Cowichan Sportsplex\, Drew's role is not only the overall administration of one of BC's best outdoor sport venues\, but he also responsible for maintaining the fiscal viability of the facility. With 23+ years experience in revenue generation\, Drew brings an entrepreneurial approach to augmenting base funding in order to sustain not-for-profit organizations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPANELIST: JENNIFER BARNES VAN ELK\n\n\n\nJennifer Barnes van Elk has a Masters in Professional Communications from Royal Roads University and a decade of managerial-level experience in the non-profit sector.  In 2015\, Jennifer started Inkwell Grant Seeking and Professional Writing Services. Through Inkwell\, Jennifer has worked with a broad cross-section of non-profit and charitable entities in the Cowichan Valley\, helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for important programs and projects in our community.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPANELIST: LINDA ROSENECK\n\n\n\nLinda has worked in the non-profit field for 17 years\, most recently completing a successful term as Executive Director and Community Development Officer with United Way (Cowichan). In her current capacity as Director of Advancement with the Clement Centre Society\, Linda is responsible for the Society's promotion and resource development programs\, as well as their capital campaign which aims to raise over six million dollars to construct a new Child Development Centre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of For the Love of Nonprofits\, a one-day professional development and networking symposium.
